Tourism and regional growth in the Carpathian Euroregion – a panel data approach

The paper focuses on the identification of relationship between tourism and economic growth Carpathian Euroregion located across seven borders Central Eastern European countries (Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania). By analysing within region, quantifies positive impact GDP per capita. To test for existence strength such a relationship, we use panel econometric model based conditional β-convergence. results confirm tourism-led hypothesis, determine extent regional disparities in activities different parts Euroregion, observed during increase tourist attractiveness 2005 2015. For where political instability has led to decrease total number visiting tourists, show that dynamics its part are markedly different, as it benefited from changing structure flows.
